We purchased new carpet and needed to get a new vacuum to go with. The carpet manufacturer provided a list of various vacuums that worked well for the soft carpet. While there is a residential, heavy duty vacuum, we felt it best to stick with what was recommended. So - while this is probably more industrial than we need, we are very happy with it.
First of all - the suction power is outstanding. We like the simplicity of it, yet the on-board tools offer all the additional pieces we'd need. Yes, it's a yellow beast - but it's rare that I vacuum during a dinner party and need something more "fancy". It's a functional tool for keeping our new carpet looking pristine. Some have commented on the heaviness of it. I don't notice it being heavy - the work comes in the fact that we have a plush, soft carpet and I dare say NO vacuum will glide easy over that. So the work is in moving across the soft carpet, not the weight of the machine. Besides - who can't use a little extra exercise?
The attachment piece is telescoping which is great when moving from one area to another. You don't have to fuss with pieces...just extend or retract as necessary.
And - I would never use a roller brush vacuum on hardwood or hard tile floors. Swiffer, soft mops or a canister vacuum with a hose attachment is all that is needed for those. Who wants scrapes and scratches from running a vacuum over beautiful hardwood (we have bamboo).
Overall, so far we are pleased with the purchase. And how can you beat free shipping? Delivered in 4 days - thank you Amazon!
07-07-15 Update - have been using the vacuum for a few weeks now. While it is obviously a very high quality machine, we have determined it is not suited for soft carpet. The motor power is much to great for the soft pile and it is heating up the cord and roller. Unsure what our next step is, but will have to look for another vacuum option. This is not a reflection on the product - it is as advertised. Unfortunately, it is more a reflection on the referral by the carpet manufacturer. Still give the Carpet Pro two thumbs up.

After a year and a half of use the motor developed a terrible loud, high-pitched whine. So loud in fact that the vacuum can be heard over half-a-block down busy Main St. from our business. There were other problems too. There is no lower hook to wrap the cord on, leaving one no choice but to use a “lasso-style” of cord wrap. The bumper piece on the front had to be permanently screwed on by our maintenance man because it would not stay on as it should. The vacuum did, and still does work though. It's just way too loud to use without earplugs. For the amount of money paid, I expected a much higher quality vacuum. Next time I will stick to the well-known brands.

After having a Riccar vacuum and reading several reviews on Amazon, I thought I would be safe to purchase this commercial vacuum for my Cheer, Dance & Tumbling Studio. I have tried to use this vacuum for several months now, and I still don't care for it any more then I did the first time that I used it. It is extremely heavy compared to my previous Riccar. This can make it difficult to maneuver around chairs in my lobby area every evening. It seems like I have to go back and forth over an area several times before everything is swept up, so it definitely lengthens the amount of time I'm sweeping. Also, there seems to be a large amount of dust around the back of the vacuum. I've had several people look at it, and everything seems to be put together correctly. I didn't even have this vacuum a week before I was strongly regretting my purchase. I would not recommend this vacuum.
