1. Full Windows 10 so anything goes with no issues
2. It is slim and light but it is a 12 inch tablet, once you cross the 9.7 inch line things become awkward no matter how sleek it is. Holding it for long periods is not the best thing.
3. Keyboard is decent. Not sure about long term reliability of hardware but typing is generally OK and no trampolining like on the Surface ones. However, no backlight (which the bright screen kinds helps with anyways).
Also the case as a case is kinda goofy. There is a 1 in 10 chance you will drop it since the magnetic design is not click and play like the surface.
You will probably need a cover type thing for tablet use to prop it and maybe use a separate preferred bluetooth keyboard.
4. Battery is about 7-8 hours normal use with 80% (pretty high) brightness. However, it charges fast and also can be supplemented with a power bank so you always have a long lasting solution. It is much better battery life and charging solution especially compared to the Surface 3.
5. Does not get too hot that I have noticed.
6. One USB C is a pain but it is an adapter away when needed to add something to it. But, one more thing to carry but still better than the iPad Pro lightening deal
7. Loss of star is for the missing micro SD card. No reason for that to be happening on a large tablet by a non Apple company. 80GB out of the box will require one eye all the time plus the risk of crashing personal stuff with the device unlike a separate storage option.
8. You already know the screen is the best. It is. Movies are a joy in it and startlingly vivid definition.
The iPad Pro or any iOS tablet does not compare. This is a full fledged computer. Not a compromised mobile OS one.
HOT TIP -
Yes, it has a pen based screen which seems different from the Wacom/NTrig type screens. However, while you are waiting for the official (bluetooth based) pen release, the Bamboo Fineline/2 series (Target/Best Buy etc) pens will work right away and are precise point pens. Also unlike Surface pens, you can use the pen as a mouse to navigate etc not just handwriting/OneNote which is big plus.
However, the negative is palm rejection. Can't rest your palm with these standard pens on OneNote so I am not sure about anything more than signatures, short notes and screen navigation for the pen. The official one MAY remedy all this but it is a waiting game.
Things i love:
1) Looks stunning. Best Windows tablet by far. It something you actually want to carry around.
2) Super light, easy to carry around, feels great in your hands... no more clunky laptop or a laptop + ipad
3) Great battery life - They claim 10 hours and I believe it (but haven't timed my actually results yet)
4) Full productivity - Performance is awesome.. full Office, I can do everything no matter where I am, all my work stuff, all my fun stuff, read a book, etc. Pretty much nails all the scenarios. I'm very impressed with the performance/speed... This is intel Core.. not some slow Atom processor, so maybe I shouldn't have been so surprised that it delivers on performance
5) No fan! My Surface Pro fan runs all the time which is lame (I7.. which is overkill for what I do)... no fan on this thing so no worries
6) USBc Charging... no more lame bulky charging cable for my laptop.. I just take the Galaxy and the super small USBc charging adapter.. plus I can charge it in the car like i would my phone. Plus easy to buy extra charging cables. etc.
7) So far every app I have tossed at this thing works great. Love that I can even install old Windows apps I need for various things and they work. Games from the Win10 store work great. Even tossed on GTA SA and frame rates were great. I'm sure there is a limit on gaming graphics you will hit quite quickly if you try a new graphics intensive game.. but that not what this thing is for so I don't see that as an issue.
8) Finally "one device for everything"... I use it at the office, traveling, at home, everything. I didn't think i would find one device to replace all the others that I actually LOVE carrying around. Just feels great in your hands. Surface Pro seem to try to hard to look cool but IMO its just not very beautiful and isn't a great tablet(more of a weird laptop.) IPad/Ipad pro just can't let me get my work done without Windows. The Galaxy hits the sweet spot.
9) Screen (this should be #1.. but I saved it for last).. simply AWESOME! It's crazy to put the new Galaxy next to an ipad pro or Surface and see the difference in the screen... hands down the Galaxy wins. I've had people on a flight stop and ask me "why is your ipad screen look so amazing compared to mine.. then they realize i'm running Win10 and actually getting work done :)
Areas I don't fully love:
1) Pen - Wish it had a full digitizer pen solution. I heard there is a pen coming but from what I read it is not Wacom, etc.
2) Keyboard keys - The keyboard is really good (fell and travel is good) but it took a little getting use to the flat keys, chicklet style might have been a better design (like the ipad pro keyboard.)
3) No Micro SD card slot. The only port is the USBc port.. you can use an adapter for everything else which is great but that's not a solution for "expanding storage." Would love the option to add a large mSD card for more storage for movies, etc.
4) LTE - Mine doesn't have it.. I see the LTE version listed on ebay so clearly they exist.. so not really a negative on the device since it seems to be a option.
5) Keyboard angle -the keyboard design allows for 2 angles which work for me most of the time. Sometimes I wish there was a 3rd angle right between the two.
6) due to the lack of an SD card slot i'd probably spent the money on a 256 or 512 version if they offered it just to never have to worry about storage.
7) power cord (USBc) could be longer but that was eaily solved... I purchased a longer 2M cable on Amazon.. nice and cheap (but do read up on USBc power cables.. Try to find the Google engineer who did some great research and reviews
Overall I love the new Galaxy! Haven't been able to try the fingerprint authentication sync'ed to my phone yet but hope to try that soon.
