Customer Reviews
Most helpful customer reviews*Pretty much all camcorders have a 20 minute limit of single session shooting. However, as I discovered when I shot a very long video review, the F90 continues to shoot past the 20 minute mark, but creates a new, separate file, and you lose perhaps 3-5 seconds between the two clips.
*Light weight compared to the Canon I was using, weighing at 9 ounces with the Velcro handle attached.
*Two separately located [Record] buttons, one on the rear of the camera, and one on the Viewing Frame, allowing me to hit the button if the camera is facing towards my speaking position with the Viewing Panel flipped around.
*Simple recharging/PC interaction. The Canon requires quite a few different hoops to jump through to get it read by the PC (two different cords to plug in, a special button to push, a couple selection screens, a bit of a wait, and then it's finally ready). The Samsung F90 does away with much of that. The USB cable doubles as a PC Recharging cable (or use the included USB Socket Adaptor) and Data Transfer cable. Plug it in, turn it on to access the INTELLI-STUDIO software (or via whatever software you prefer), or leave the unit "powered off", and it will continue to charge as well with none of the silly "building thumbnails" or such that Canon goes through. That simple. And the file transfer speeds using a SanDisk Ultra 32GB MicroSDHC Class card is more than sufficient.
*The included software, INTELLI-STUDIO, isn't a high end film editor by a long shot, but I actually rather like it in many ways. Offers basic film clipping and choosing frames as a snapshot, especially helpful for quickly making my own YouTube thumbnail, and the file conversion rate is on par with an earlier, unfortunate $40 purchase of another File Converter program. Additionally, it isn't one of those "exclusive, can only use this" bits of programming; you can use it in conjunction with other programs or not at all.
