5Works like a charm!
By Christie
I have a very old car. It only has a cassette tape slot and a CD slot. So to play music in my car I got a Cassette Tape Adapter and connected this Bluetooth unit to it and Voila! My car suddenly has a Bluetooth Sound System! I think I might be getting these for my old Bose Portable Speakers as well!

I also use NFC tags in my car. So when I get into my car I just
1)Turn on the Etekcity unit
2)Scan my NFC Tag with my phone which connects me to the Etekcity BT Audio Adapter and opens my spottily playlist.
And then I have everything set and ready to go in less than 5 seconds.
3)When I get off the car I just scan the same NFC tag again to turn off bluetooth, lower volume, and close spotify. I don't turn off the unit, seems it turns it self off after a certain amount of minutes or seconds.

I personally got some generic NFC tags from Ebay.
But you can get more or less any NFC tag from Amazon or wherever you want.
I also use the app 'Trigger" to program my NFC tags. But you can do whatever you want.

By the way, here is the cassette tape adapter I use

I do not notice any sound quality issues. And the battery seems to last decently long. I have used it for about 8 hours now, and I haven't charged it since it came out of the box two weeks ago. I don't do anything to turn it off when I leave my car. It seems it just turns off it self. The only thing I do have to do is hold the center button to turn it on and then pair/connect my phone to it.

5Very good
By TrojHansen
I bought this for use in my car, because my AUX input is in the glove box (thanks, VW) and it was very annoying to connect my phone with a cable.

The audio quality for this unit is excellent, it is much louder with less distortion than what the audio output on my phone can put out. It automatically connects to my phone when I push the power button, and it automatically shuts down when I turn off bluetooth or leave my car. The unit itself feels fairly solid, with rubber feet on the bottom.

My only complaint is that in order to power it on, you have to hold the power button for 6-7 seconds, which is rather annoying. The audio cable provided is approx 4 ft long, I wish they also provided a short (6 inch cable) with it.

Internally, the unit is based on the Bluecore CSR8635 chip. It does not have a microphone. It does not support aptX. It has a pause/play button. It does not have a volume control (you have to adjust on your phone or amp).

Final note:
This unit is impedance matched to work with high impedance audio amplifiers. This means it will sound great when plugged into a car or a home theater type setup, but it will sound very poor if you plug in headphones or earbuds. If you are looking for something to make your headphones wireless, look elsewhere.

3Agreed sounds good, but most are based on the same chip ...
By Bookman
Agreed sounds good, but most are based on the same chip set and circuits so that is no surprise. The unit is in the upper price range for these devices. My gripe with this unit is that even if it is powered consistently via USB, as soon as it has no single for a few minutes it powers down (sleep state). Here is the problem with that: I have it hooked up to my sound system which is remote control operated. I'm reading on the other side of the room and have my laptop. I decide to listen to some music.I hit the "on" button on my system remote and the audio system is ready to go. I open my laptop and I cannot connect to the device. I have to go over to the shelf unit, open it up, forage around for this little device and then turn it on. Then return to the laptop, click the device to connect again and it will work. So in this sense, the remote control unit for my audio system is basically made obsolete by the poor design of this $22 device. Sad. How this should work: if it is powered by USB and has power then do not automatically power down when there is no signal. Stay powered on until a single is again detected.
