Good enough for Afghanistan

I trusted this case to take my laptop, camera and audio rig to Afghanistan aboard military flights. To put it lightly, they are not careful with luggage. Everything arrived intact, though the TSA did cut my locks off (thanks for keeping me safe from terrorists on my military flight).

Picking the foam out was easy, and actually kind of fun, as far as planning goes. I mapped out the optimal distribution of lenses, the camera, laptop, and other little compartments before I got started. Having a good knife helps with some of the more delicate work.

Over all, happy as I can be with my purchase, though I wish I could have gotten a different color than safety orange. The seller was jacking with the prices on different colors, and I missed out on getting olive for $80, which the raised to $155. I picked up the orange for $65, so I can't complain.

Okay Case for Non Extreme Use

I like this case, but it is not nearly as strong as the Pelican cases. I have a specific size requirement and sadly no Pelican would work so I tried this case with padded dividers. The build quality simply is not on par with Pelican either, but it is not flimsy junk either, but it is flimsy in comparison. The walls of this case are thin and this would affect the latching if used in extreme conditions. For my use, this will not see any extreme use and will work fine. The padded dividers are just okay, but not as firm as the one found in a Pelican, again, for my limited use, no problem. The egg-crate upper is a joke, will not stay in place. Overall, this case will work for what I need, But I would not trust it beyond its limited usage. I gave it a 3, but really, it is a 2.5 in my book.

Purchased the Silver and the yellow version.

Be aware that the Silver version I received has a strange 'blow-mold' pattern radiating outwards and doesn't look very nice (looks 'cheap'). No such problem with the yellow one though. Functionally they both work the same (good) and the locks are much easier to use (less pressure needed) than my Pelican case.
The way that Pelican locks snap into place means the Pelican tends to occasionally bite a finger if you are not careful. No such problem here. These Nanuks are lighter than the equivalent size Pelican (less overall weight to lug around) and to me look a bit more elegant (classy?), a bit less industrial looking. I'm happy with and trust both brands but for everyday use I prefer the Nanuks mainly because of the locks and (lighter) weight.
