Editorial Reviews

From the Manufacturer
GE's most advanced filtration ever. Tested and verified to filter 5 trace pharmaceuticals including ibuprofen, progesterone, atenolol, trimethoprim, and fluoxetine ( The contaminants or other substances removed or reduced by this water filter are not necessarily in all users' water)

3Works great but overpriced and GE is heavy-handed in making you buy their filter
By Matt
I'd give it 5-stars for function and form. It's easy to install and the water tastes great.

HOWEVER (!), for value and heavy-handed business practices I give it sub-1 star. $50? Seriously? So it's not enough that I buy a $2600 refrigerator from GE...they need/want a recurring revenue stream so bad they make me buy their over-priced, proprietary water filter otherwise my fridge glares at me with a red warning message that I cannot get rid of.

That burns me up, frankly. Either reduce the cost, allow me to buy an off-brand filter or allow me to turn off the warning message. I know there's a 99% chance GE reps will never read this but this filter, for me, is a deal-killer for future GE appliance purchases. If GE wants to bully people into buying overpriced water filters that's fine, but when it's time for a new refrigerator they won't be doing it to me.

1Sure it works, but expensive
By Katanajo
Maybe this isn't a review of the product as most would expect. I am echoing other reviews where the cost of this filter is stupid expensive. I shouldn't have to pay $50 three times a year for filtered water. Had I of known the filters cost this much I would not have bought the fridge. You cannot tell me that the filter cost a lot to make. It is made in China after all. HIGHLY disappointed in GE for this type of consumerism attitude.
