I bought this scanner 1 week into a 2 week project where I was required to scan a couple thousand computers a week. The first week saw me tethered to a laptop with a wired scanner. While that worked OK, it didn't look overly professional so I thought I'd give this unit a shot. I tried it out at home using my existing Logitech Bluetooth dongle and it continually tried to make me enter a code (as it would for a keyboard). I tried scanning entering the digits from an existing barcode, then scanning it with the scanner, but to no avail. After 10 minutes of frustration, I tried the included Bluetooth dongle and it didn't ask for a code and just worked. I tried a few barcodes that I had in my office and everything seems to work pretty well. I packed up the scanner and dongle and took it back to work for week 2.
When I plugged the dongle into my laptop, I found that it had to be plugged in just right in order for it to be recognized by Windows. Unfortunately, just right meant that it had to be about 1/16" or so out. Unfortunately, if it got bumped even slightly, Windows would lose the dongle and the scanner disconnected. I tried a few times and couldn't make it reliable so I moved to a different laptop that had built in Bluetooth. It paired easily and I was on my way.
While using the scanner, the first thing I noticed was that it timed out (and turned off) after 20 seconds of inactivity. This caused the unit to disconnect (but not unpair) from the laptop. When you click the trigger, it woke up and (usually) reconnected within 10 seconds or so. Unfortunately, a number of times, it just refused to reconnect and I had to turn off Bluetooth on the laptop and turn it back on again. This became incredibly annoying so I figured I would change the timeout setting on the device, as I had seen that you could do so by scanning barcodes in the manual. Oddly, the barcodes give you about 7 options for the timeout, but they jump from 20 seconds to 20 minutes or more. Something more in the realm of 2 minutes or 5 minutes would have been ideal. Either way, I figured 20 minutes was better than 20 seconds and proceeded to scan the programming code. Again, unfortunately, the scanner would not read the programming code (even though it would read other programming codes). My wired scanner read the code just fine but this unit refused to read it. I immediately jumped on the computer and sent an email to the vendor hoping they could give me an easy answer.
Over a week later, still no reply. I ended up having to finish out the week of work clicking the trigger every 15 seconds or so to keep the unit alive and, when I did let it go to sleep, hoping it would reconnect again. Luckily, I bought this during Amazon's holiday return time so I have until the end of January to return it. If I can't find a way to change the timeout before then, it will be going back. It's a decent unit that scans well (even in the dark), has a good range, is comfortable in the hand, and is overall a good scanner, but I can't deal with the incredibly short timeout and having to hope that it reconnects each time it turns off.

Alright, it works fine. It's cheap (something is loose inside).
My biggest issue is the charging cable. It's Ethernet and it's plugs so far in that you need a mini screwdriver to remove it, it's a crappy design.
I also imagine that it will greatly reduce the life of the cable/unit.
It also wants to shut down right away which is very annoying, even after selecting a longer timeout period.
My advice would be spending more on a better unit, I know will.
