Product Description

Just *knowing* what's in the air you breathe helps you breathe better air

Breathing a better air at home helps you:
  • Stay Healthy - Just like organic food is better for you than junk food is. Get your share of fresh air, and feel great!

  • Get a Better Sleep - Have you ever woken up in the morning feeling completely exhausted? That may be due to high PM levels. Just like food, the air your breathe also plays a huge role in your sleep and well-being.

  • Remediate Mold - Don’t wait until mold and moisture invades your household. Control your level of humidity all year long and avoid unhealthy black mold development.

  • Reduce Allergies - Dust mites allergies, skin rash, and dry eyes are more common for children, and are so uncomfortable. By knowing the levels of particulates in the air, and then controlling it, you’re on your way to fewer allergies.

  • Be More Productive - Studies identified indoor pollution at work as a cause for dizziness and fatigue. It can influence workers’ productivity, as high as 10%. By keeping your levels under control, you’ll increase your sense of focus. (ASHRAE Journal)

A word about sensors, accuracy and connectivity

An accurate device to measure your Home

Foobot is a great device if you’re getting interested in your home’s air quality.

  • Foobot is designed as a home device, not as a lab device:
    • Lab devices are made to provide exact absolute values for a pollutant level
    • Foobot also tells you about your home’s air quality values with a reasonable tolerance of ∓20% compared to a lab device, for a fraction of the cost.
    • Foobot’s goal is to let you know what is doing what in your home regarding air quality.
    • Foobot is good at detecting trends over time; So you can identify which behavior or product is causing better air or worse.
  • The startup behind Foobot, Airboxlab, run many tests to check our devices do spot trends, and trends are compared to reference lab devices, and must follow them.
  • An independent study from the Journal of Aerosol Science mentions the higher accuracy of Foobot compared to competitors.

Built-in sensors
  • Foobot includes sensors for PM2.5 (particulate matters), VOC (chemicals), Temperature and Humidity.

  • Foobot’s sensors need 6 days to “warm-up”:

    • When you take Foobot out of its box, there’s a mini plastic foil wrapped around the sensors. It takes up to 6 days to the device to remove it.
  • Expect accurate readings after 6 days.
  • Don’t benchmark Foobot against other products before this period is over. It wouldn’t be accurate nor fair.
  • There is no CO2 sensor within Foobot:
    • CO2 reading on the app is calculated from VOC readings
    • Though we believe the CO2 reading is interesting, you can expect a significant discrepancy between the CO2 calculation and values from a top-end CO2 meter.
    • According to experts (NASA), CO2 mostly is a proxy for human occupation. Therefore, having a suitable sensor for particulates and VOCs is actually more important to indoor air quality.

  • Place Foobot in an open space, ideally at the height of your nose, on a piece of furniture, not too close from a wall, and not exposed to excessive heat (oven, cookers, etc.)
  • Once a year, you may need to clean Foobot’s vents with dry air at best or with a dry cloth. Do not use water, sprays, or your vacuum cleaner.

Connectivity and requirements:
  • Foobot supports 2.4 GHz WiFi router only. Foobot does not support 5 GHz WiFi routers. Most routers offer 2.4 GHz
  • Foobot does not support:
    • networks requiring secondary authentication
    • login portals
    • managed login networks
    • networks protected by firewalls

Setup:
  1. Place your Foobot very close to the WiFi router (less than 1 meter, or 3 ft.)

  2. Once Foobot is successfully connected you can place your Foobot anywhere within 10 meters from the WiFi router, with a maximum of 1 thick wall or 2 thin walls in-between.
To see a 3’’ video of the setup, simply type "foobot setup" on Vimeo
