Product description

If you want to burn calories, improve your health, mood and productivity while typing at your desk, then the DeskCycle is the bike for you. The DeskCycle was specifically designed to be used in the work environment. It has the same patented magnetic resistance mechanism as in the MagneTrainer. This insures smooth and quiet operation. Smooth pedal motion is healthy for your joints and won't distract you from your work. Quiet operation insures that you won't disturb your coworkers. Other bikes use friction resistance which is not smooth and can be noisy. The DeskCycle has a lower profile than the MagneTrainer. The pedals are 5 inches lower than the MagneTrainer so that it will fit under desks better. It could be used at a 27 inch desk by a person as tall as 5'7". At this height you will need to push the cycle further under your desk and extend your legs. You may also need to lower your chair. If you are taller, you will need a taller desk. The highest resistance level is twice as high as the highest resistance setting of the Magneciser, and MagneCycle. At the lowest level it takes no effort to pedal it. The pedal motion is bidirectional, which means you can pedal it forward as well as in reverse. This lets you work opposite muscle groups. It comes with the Large pedals with adjustable Velcro straps. It has 8 calibrated resistance levels. We also provide an online calorie calculator on the desk-cycle website.

4Nice fan, false info in the listing, but still useable. I tried to put all the info I could find about the fan in the review.
By Kaniki
I will try to cover everything that I know, but I will say this from the start. Some of the info on the listing, is just wrong about the fans. My review is going to be a bit long too, because I am going to try an include the specs on the fan, so you know what they are, all in one place.

First, if you, like me, prefer to buy made in the USA stuff, then let me say, this is NOT one of them. I bought this one because it said, "Origin: USA". I got them in, and found that both the box, and the fans, both say made in china on them.

I got 2 of these, and found that they were not equal in the amount of power that they use. Since they have a surge of power when you first turn them on, I will give you the readings on them after they were running for about 30 seconds. Fan 1, then 2 respectively. High 49.7, 51.5 watts. Low 35.8, 34.9 watts. I am just letting you know not to expect an exact number, because each fan uses a different amount of power. I saw one person put that theirs uses 53 watts on high. So all you can get is an estimate on these.

The power cord is an 18AWG cable, and is 5' or 5 foot long. It is just a standard, 2 plug end.

The fan blades are around 6 1/2" wide, each. They are both made out of plastic. They do produce a good amount of air flow too. I would say, on low, it would probably be comparable to a standard window air conditioner's fan on high. It is hard to really give an accurate amount as things very too much, but it does give a good breeze, even on low. There is no information, anywhere on the fan, or in the manual, to tell what the CFM rating is for the air flow. I looked. Both fans also run together. There is no way to turn one off. It is all or nothing.

The noise level of the fans is moderate. It is a typical fan sound, from the cutting of the blades into the air, type of sound. Basically the sound level is one that is plenty tolerable to be able to use it in a window, in say, a bedroom, or in a living room, and be able to watch TV at the same time. I would say that this fan on high, is probably about the noise level of my quieter window air conditions, just on fan, on low.. You do not hear much, if any noise, from the motors.

They say that these are reversible, and the pictures make it look like there is a switch to do it. But, there is no switch. You have to manually turn the whole fan around to reverse the air flow. There is a switch on the top, on both sides, for you to control the speed, from high to low to off. They are not independent switches. There is one switch in the middle of the fan, and a plastic lever that extends to the outside of the fan on both sides.

The fan size is 10" high, 21 3/4" long (about 3/4" of that is the lip to attach the side extension too), and that is with no side extensions in use. One side of the fan has an accordion type of extension, and the other side has a solid extension that slides down on that lip. It comes with one solid extension, but looks to be made so that you can attach multiple of them together, but I have found no way to buy more of them. Each side, the extensions come up to about 5" of extension per side, for a total of about 10" in extension, for a total width, or length of the fan, at around 31" max.

It does come with a 1 year warranty too, just like is stated in the listing.

The weight of the fan is pretty light too.. Maybe 2 pounds.. Not surprising since just about the whole fan is made out of plastic.

I bought these to save on electric, so I can put them in the window, and turn them on at night, to pull the warmer air out of the house, and pull the cooler night air in, and then I just close the windows during the day. I would say it is worth it, vs running an air condition, when you take into consideration that these use around 50 watts on high, vs an air conditioner that uses over around 500 watts with just the fan, and well over 1000 watts when using the AC part of it too.

I have only tested mine out so far, so if I have any problems, I will update. My opinion about it. I do like the fan, and I will get a lot of use out of them. I wish that they were made in the USA like they are advertised to be, and I wish I could have gotten some info about how much air flow they give off too. A switch to reverse the blades, instead of having to turn the whole fan around, would be nice too. But, for the most part, I am happy with them.. At least, so far. I took off one star due to false information on where they were made, and lack of info about air flow, noise levels, etc, without having to look through tons of customer reviews and questions.

5Fits my window perfectly and allows me to turn the AC off at night and suck the cold air from outside - into my room
By Amazon Customer
Obsessed! Fits my window perfectly and allows me to turn the AC off at night and suck the cold air from outside - into my room! I use this to cool down my master bedroom since it's on the backside of my house and doesn't receive a breeze I keep it on low and it keeps the room cool and smelling fresh!

4Entry Level Fan That Does The Job..
By John Thomas
Dual window fans are a good thing to have here in the summer months. Especially when the house heats up and the night air outside is trapped out there and you need something to draw it in. I have had several over the years. They have a life expectancy of about 3 seasons for me before they start to act up, or get too filthy to want to use anymore. This Holmes model is just about as cheap as they come. Nothing special about it at all, just twin fans that do the job. This one is even a little cheaper than most for it doesn't even bother to include slide out panels for both sides, just a filler panel that may not see your fan being centered in your window if that's important to you. Even though the blades on this and fan openings are decent size, the unit itself is not very big so make sure to measure carefully. The only other thing about this fan that could be aggravating to some is the fact that you can't reverse the fans for exaust without turning it around. That's not a problem for me for I have never used one of these for exhaust, just to draw in outside air. Altogether an entry level fan that does the job and comes at a good price... Recommended.. : )

Installation is a little tricky if you've never messed with swapping out a switch before. The instructions aren't super clear, but if you study them long enough, it eventually makes enough sense. Here's what I had to do:

1.) Turn the light off. Kill the breaker to the switch.
2.) Unscrew the plate and existing switch. Popping the existing wires out of the back of the old switch was the hardest part here.
3.) Pull out the white wires (neutrals) from the back of the box
4.) Unscrew the wire nut off the neutrals. Add in the short neutral wire included in the GE switch box and screw the wire nut back on.
5.) Connect the 4 or 5 wires that are now open to the new switch: line, load, neutral, traveler (only if 3-way config), ground.
6.) Turn breaker on. Check to see you've got a blue LED.
7.) Put your hub in discovery mode. Push the switch once to make it pair.
8.) Turn breaker back off. Screw everything back in and put on a fitting plate. Done!

A couple other notes for people who are totally new to this:

Line = wire coming from the breaker
Load = wire going to the light fixture
Traveler = wire that runs between two (or more) switches that allows you to flip the same light on/off from multiple places. Normally red.

It can be hard to tell which is which between line/load as both of these are usually black. From my experience, the line wire was almost always connected via wire nut in the back of the box while the load wire was just free by itself. The load wire was also generally closer to the traveler wire.

**UPDATE: So I just finished an install of 4 of these in the same gangbox. It was a LOT harder than I expected. Things get immediately more complicated when you're putting in more than 1 of these in the same box. Here's what I ran into:

1.) Each of these switches takes a dedicated ground wire. However, all multi-switch boxes in my house have the ground wire daisy-chained and shared between them. This meant I had to cut the existing ground wire and run separate short ones from a wire nut to each switch. Very annoying. Really wish these things had some way to pass through the ground wire. Almost enough to drop this to 4 stars.

2.) The neutral wire bundle in the back of the box already has 4 in there. That means you can't just cram 4 more neutral wires from these switches into that same wire nut. I had to combine the 4 new neutrals into their own new bundle and then use a short wire that would connect the two wire nut bundles. Also annoying.

3.) Those metal tabs on the sides. The instructions say you "may" need to snap them off when installing multiple switches next to each other. There was no "may" about it for me as there's no way more than one of these things will fit into a box and plate with those tabs. The tabs themselves are not hard to remove as long as you use some large pliers (locking pliers make it easier). I did leave the outside tabs on the outer-most switches, though.

4.) Box space. Oh man. Because of #1 and #2, you end up adding a lot of extra wire into the back of the box. Things get really tight really fast. The majority of my time on this task was getting everything crammed back in. It was so tight that when I would push everything in, the box itself was sliding back deeper into the wall. The short screws I had would never reach to attach the switches to the box. So I went out and bought longer screws, which made it tons easier. I also ran into problems where every time I'd smash stuff in, some random wire in one of those bundles would pop out, and I've have to pull everything out and start over. Endless trips to the breaker and back. At least I hit my fitness tracker step goal.

5.) INSPECT USED UNITS. Closely. Most of the time they're fine, but two of mine were missing the neutral wire in the box (luckily I had extra wire to make my own). One of them had the screw totally broken off on the neutral wire port, so I had to try and rig the wire to stay put. Finally, one of them was actually the older version of the switch that doesn't even take a neutral wire, even though the box it came in had the newer model model # printed on it - that one's obviously getting returned.

First impressions:

Build quality – It is not as tightly put together as say a tablet or a high end laptop, but it feels very well made. The screen articulates well and the lid feels sturdy. The keyboard has a nice feel to it, much better than my Logitech for my iPad, and I’d say just about as good as any laptop I’ve used. It does have a strip of plastic between the track-pad and the space bard which is somewhat flimsy, though, and when I press down with moderate pressure, the whole middle of the keyboard flexes. Overall, though, I am impressed, especially for $179. Haven't dropped it yet, but I think it would survive.

Ergonomics – The keyboard feels like a full size; the volume and power buttons are in a good place, and the keyboard is comfortable to type on. The trackpad is larger than I’m used to and even the fastest setting doesn’t feel fast enough for me as I usually have to lift my finger off the trackpad to get from one side of the screen to the other. I like the “no buttons” choice of the trackpad though, and how the whole pad just clicks down if you feel you need a click. The SIZE and WEIGHT are incredible! I guess most chrome books are this way, but I am amazed. It feels lightweight but not cheap. The keys are not backlit. Webcam is stationary, and I doubt I will ever use this with Facetime on the ipad / iphone so simple and easy. Maybe they could do a version without this and drop another $20?

Display – The display looks very bright, crisp; just what you’d expect from an IPS screen. Now if I can only manage to stop poking it with my touch-screen trained fingers, I expect it to last. The fact that it is not a touch-screen makes this feel more like a laptop to me.

Color – It looks good in white casing with black keys (kind of like a piano), but white would not be my first choice due to the inevitability to show dirt and oil after a while. Also the exterior it textured, which feels cool, but will probably attract more dirt that way.

Sound -- Volume is pretty loud. Not sure the decibels, but is is louder than an laptop, phone, or tablet I've had. I was surprised to hear what sounded like stereo Left and Right sound coming from a video, when I looked on the bottom and noticed it had two speakers. Only realistic improvement would be if they could have mounted the speakers on the front instead of the bottom. I could imagine it getting muffled if on a blanket or other soft surface. But the sound exceeded my expectations for the price for sure.

Software – having no background in Chrome OS, I find this software simple and easy to understand. You can’t really screw it up. Somewhat disappointed with the app store. Does not seem like a lot of high quality apps to pick from, but that is coming from an apple user (and previously android). UPDATE: the "OK Google" feature which allows voice searches and commands was not working. I spent an hour on a help chat with google, and they couldn't determine the problem, but finally asked me to "Powerwash" the machine, essentially wiping it and returning it back to factory state. It took about 2 minutes to powerwash and set it up again, and the "OK Google" feature miraculously worked again. I have had no other OS issues.

Speed – The computer starts almost as instantly as a phone. Clicking on anything gives no lag. It is snappy, and I think it will stay that way. Youtube streams beautifully. Webpages load fast. If they had had the 4 GB version, I would have considered it, but 2 GB is not too slow for me right now.
